This is why I love cycling.
On the days you expect things to happen; not much happens.
On the days you expect nothing to happen, things happen.
Fingers crossed.

I suspect once they get somewhere more protected it'll fizzle out a bit, but still, then you have two things that would come from that even if it all came back together:
  1. the sprinters and their teams who had been caught out would have to work so hard to get back on that it would impact their leadouts and sprint ability, creating a more unpredictable final few kilometres either from encouraging late attackers or just a less controlled lead-in;
  2. the teams like Bora who did make the move now know who is vulnerable, and if we do have wind late in the stage they know what they are likely to be able to do if they do raise the tempo again.

If it doesn't come back together, Bora win out. If it does, Bora still have an advantage for later. This is why you test out your opponents' legs :)

Maybe the main question today isn't whether Bora will manage to keep Bennett distance but whether QS will manage to keep Ewan distanced.

I think Ewan's done for today unless the peloton speed drops completely. That's if the GPS gaps are accurate.

You have to give it to Ineos. Whenever there is crosswind you'll notice that Bernal is always positioned on the side of the road where the whole team is protected from the rest of the peloton.
