Castroviejo is a really stylish rider IMO, looking good descending.
Basques tend to fall into two categories, thanks to the very rainy and very mountainous part of the country they cut their teeth on. They're either top level descenders or the absolute dirt worst. The all-terrain vehicle people like Fraile, Izagirre, Castroviejo, they're good downhill, but the wispy climbers tend to be absolute trainwrecks.

The GF's enjoying watching the action today (she's not my own personal gigs yay!)

She is however a bit distressed about Kirby repeatedly size shaming Fraile for being a 'big guy'. That's between him and his team apparently :tearsofjoy:

You're not allowed to show anything that distressing on public TV at this time of day here.

I get you become a top level descender by growing up in such terrain...... I don't really get the opposite....... wouldn't even the worst improve slightly, by doing it a lot? ;)

Contador having a go that Roglic and JV might not be that strong and giving thumbs up for Nairo. I love it.

Or, you can crash so often because of those roads that you become petrified and nervous. Also worth noting is some of the guys like the Izagirre brothers also grew up doing cyclocross in the muddy fields of Euskadi too.

Thanks!

I always enjoy your insights into Spanish cycling, which are not common knowledge.

It's what makes to multinational forum cool, all the little local tidbits of information
