the most obvious solution is to lower it to under 24 or 23. There is almost no sport in the world where 25 yr old or 24yr olds are considered young....
In general yes, but 25 is still quite young to win a Grand Tour.

Apart from a few precocious talents, most riders take a few years to fully develop - even those who are already winners at 22, 23. Vingegaard, Almeida, Gaudu, Kamna - these are all guys who may win GTs in the future but at the moment they have a way to go. Even Evenepoel might not win a GT before 25.

Soren Kragh is not enjoying the Tour this year, is he?

Meanwhile the race is still very much on.

They need to stop handing out the combativity award on every stage and make it a special award only for certain stages depending on how the race had developed.

Too often it just leads to dumb breakaway riding and often rewards people that just sabotaged stuff.
Of course this break today wouldn't get anywhere anyway but I don't see how pointless attacking each other +60km out, 1 minute ahead of the Peleton, is something that should be encouraged.

Tell that to the sponsor of the combativity award. Agree with your point but in practice it's impossible.

Not sure how many but thats Vingegaard in the lead for best first year result

18 started. Vingegaard is the best with Paret-Peintre only other who is within hour of Pogacar.

edit: De Bod seems the only one who is no longer in the race.

One thing that's great about Alaf is he'll chase down attacks, take part in lead outs even tho he's WC and has his own ambitions (which were dashed pretty early, but he still wants a stage win). On the other hand he sure uses a lot of energy when, if he kept some matches dry, might be used to better effect. I thought going in the break yesterday, and even on Mt. Ventoux, was a suicide mission. He spent 250 km or so taking pulls with nothing to show for it.

Make it 'bravest breakaway rider' or something like that where combativity isn't equated to 'random attacking'. Today was kind of harmless fun but I remember e.g. last year at the Col de la Loze stage where Alaphilippe went over and over with dumb attacks, sabotaging Carapaz and the others in the breakaway just because Macron was in the car behind and he wanted that combativity award.

Look at Froome meerkatting near the front, loitering with intent as they say, he's got em just where he wants em, attack incoming.
