I think a lot of people are acting like it would be a massive disappointment if Vingegaard doesn't finish on the podium. No! It will be a massive achievement if he does finish on the podium. Top-10 will be a great result.

Yes, it will be a good result for him, but not for Jumbo. So they should either fully support him or not do it at all and only target stage wins. If they are doing the former or the latter remains to be seen, though only having Teunissen with him now and the riding of Van Aert, Kuss and Kruijswijk on other stages point a bit to the latter.

I sure hope Jumbo can tell the difference between what would be a good result with a rider like Roglic, and what would be a good result with a rider like Vingegaard.

But to not support him at all, how crazy would that be?
Ah, nah, Pogacar is too strong, we won't win this anyway. What's a second place in the Tour worth, we already had that last year... We're not even going to try, maybe Jonas will be flushed up there, but if not, well...

To give Wout the freedom today is one thing, I suppose the stage is not so hard that neither Kruijswijk nor Kuss can survive... but I would leave at least one of them with Vingegaard - unless they have a master plan I don't get so far.

lead group may be getting so far ahead, that they won't be able to help their team leaders if there is an attack

Sure, but they are not riding for a top 10 finish in a race they came to win, when they have other opportunities to get good results.

They may have reason to believe Vingegaard will be in trouble at some point, maybe even today, and if he drops off the podium, I doubt his placing will matter much to them. Of course we'll have to wait and see what happens later in the stage. Maybe they just want to give Van Aert a chance to save some energy, before Kuss and Kruijswijk drop back.

I will be disappointed if JV and Vingegaard dont try something given the heat and terrain
A little try everyday before next Saturday would do me

But also expect Ineos to try today
Will we see already some GC action on the Port d'Envalira or just a bit action on the Beixalis?

The thing is that the first climbs are not that steep and before an attack one should at least reduce the main peleton a bit. Jumbo doesn´t have the guys for that in the peleton, but Ineos still has..

This feels like a bit of a cop out to me. Pogacar aside, a second place from Roglic or one from Vingegaard is still a good result and a reason to ride for Jonas today. But either way it should play out in an interesting way...

Bouhani is really desperate to finish this race isn't he? He's about 15 minutes behind the peloton.

Sitting alone, with the Broom Wagon hot on your heels, that must be every riders worst nightmare.
And unlike certain other cycling-nightmares I have heard about today, something that actually happens frequently.

Well if I was in control of Jumbo, I would definitely only have one or two riders in the break and the rest with Vingegaard, if I wanted to ride for the podium or the slim chance of actually winning the race. As it stand now, INEOS will have up the pace at some point if they want to make use of Castroviejo and Van Baarle, which will also help Jumbo, unless Vingegaard has a bad day or gets a mechanical or another kind of mishap.
