I think Ewan clipped Merlier's back wheel while wrestling Sagan for the slipstream and then went down.

I think that was a "you need to be on the front before the final corner" type sprint.

there were never these crashes when there were only 120-140 riders at the start.

I don't think there were that many crashes back in the 198/207 riders start list times

Edit: although Devil's Elbow has a much better memory of these things than I do

If the tour organizers had any shame and dignity, they would come out and apologize to the riders and suspend themselves. Way too narrow of a course, not just the last 10-20 km, but other bits as well. I don’t know what they are trying to accomplish with these dangerous routes. Can you imagine if it rained? It looked like it might for a while there. Maybe they would have neutralized the stage. In any case, can’t blame any spectators for any of the crashes today.

Damn man he looked really hurt, ambulance at the scene, I hope the Bahrain rider (Haig?) is doing ok because he didn't seem to be moving
