More than anything this is a rehearsal for Pogačar's rivals... what can be done against UAE.
And I don't think the UAE team's handling this the best.
Hit the panic button without a good reason.

I'm not sure they even will unless UAE sit up.

Best bet for everyone else is that UAE kill themselves here and that later in the race they are too dead to help Pogi during a bad day / mechanical / other racing incident

Ah, actually I didn't notice Van Baarle was up there. But still.
Anyway, indeed it would be good for the race if they stayed cool and let UAE do all the work.

Van Baarle is in the break.

Even if I doubt he's a real threat, you'd be pretty dumb to gift WVA a big chunk of time at this stage - who knows how long he can hang on if the team rides for him.

Similarly while he's almost certainly not a threat it would be stupid to gift Nibali a route back into the race. It's just an extra complication to have someone who could cause problems in otherwise calmer areas within a threatening distance, particularly when your team is not the strongest.

There's a bunch of guys in there who if given 10 minutes could put up a hell of a fight to be brought back again. Nibali, Ruben Guerreiro, Mohoric, Bakelants, and Van Aert for example.

And who the *** knows about MVP? He says he's not riding GC, but if he's in yellow ahead by 8 minutes?...

I'm much more concerned about Van Aert than Nibali. He's the only serious threat for Pogacar up there (i would bet he is the reason why UAE is pulling so hard)

That was great to see. UAE in full panic mode. Sets the stage for a fun race if the other teams hang them out to dry.

Lol, it seems that the whole peleton is attacking UAE. The fact that guys like Van Aert and Nibali are there makes it dangerous (even the leader escaped). How did it happen?

Didn't clock Mohoric was there. I'd be pissing myself if I was risking gifting anything to a Bahrain rider. :coldsweat:
