On a similar note to the Monument discussion: There are 10 Tour de France stage winners in the break according to Danish TV2: Mark Cavendish, Mathieu van der Poel, Vincenzo Nibali, Philippe Gilbert, Søren Kragh Andersen, Simon Yates, Jan Bakelants, Magnus Cort, Mike Teunissen og Wout van Aert. Probably ~50 stage wins for TdF alone in this break.

Wow, they are giving this break 6 minutes?
I guess it's because Pogacar seems so dominant... so the other teams see everyone else as a minor threat.

Only others to work are TDE

But yeah it's basically looking like 'we hope this breaks UAE'' because that's the only way anyone else is winning so far.

Obviously they're not going to give Van Aert, Nibali, or Yates a free 10 minutes so I expect the gap to be closed considerably by the end of the day

This game of chicken is very interesting though. Shades of Stage 17 in 2006

No one wants to burn their team in a long stage like this one before the mountains. Other teams will maybe take the front in the last ~50 km.
