Think WVA is a bit doomed with these breakaway escape moves because other guys in the breakaway ease off as they a) want him to do the work and b) they look behind and see UAE and others chasing hard once WVA made it so feel they have even less incentive to kill themselves for nothing.

And I don't see Pogacar wasting enough energy for Vingegaard to drop him later.

Pretty ridiculous for the Danish commentators to link Roglič's misfortune to his Tour prep. By all accounts he was in perfect physical condition, and it's not like he hasn't raced a lot in the spring, nor will race a lot after the Tour.
Belgian commentators said the same: preparing for months on a mountain isn't learning you anything about riding in a peloton at 50-60K/hr. So they feel Roglic could also be lacking bike handling skills in the peloton (next to being unfortunate).

It's so weird that this stage seems to be so wide open with the Pogacar almost completely isolated with 90 km to go yet it still feels like this Tour is a foregone conclusion. I hope I'm wrong but I barely remember a case where I was this certain a particular rider was gonna win a gt this early in the race.
This is just the learned helplessness from the Sky years kicking in.
