I don't get the impression he's giving it the full beans on this descent. Helping the others by showing a good line to follow as well?

They had to close gaps and pedal after each corner, like someone else pointed out.

Good for Pidcock to tire the others out and stay clear of any crash being behind someone not as skilled as he is, but bad if they should now work together on the flat to maintain a decent gap going into the climb. They spent energy "chasing" Pidcock.

Tom Pidcock descending a mountain at speeds of 85kph

The skill, fitness, sharpness and elite-level training needed to do what he's doing speaks to the soul and what man can achieve

Let's hope he's not ill and needs to quarantine himself from humanity later though eh?

How much does the break need at the bottom? Surely 6 mins is enough?

I don't think so. Less than 20 riders finished within 6 mins of Thomas in 2018 and that was a pretty tame edition. This hasn't been a tame break effort and we can bet the GC effort will be strong in the finale.

Anyway, meeting time for me so probably won't be able to enjoy the finale with you all :(

I only catch half the French commentary—did they say something about a Roglic mechanical? He and Kuss are missing from the very front.

If Vingegaard wins today it's going to be a boring remainder of the tour. A Jumbo train all the way to Paris.

So if Jumbo doesn't go full gas in the valley the gap can be enough

It might not be impossible, but it depends on how much the break has left in the tank compared to the GC guys. And of course also on when the full on attacks start.

Looks like they've been able to keep a decent enough pace in the break even though Froome and Ciccone are fairly obviously not pulling much weight
