riding hard enough to keep Groenewegen behind is keeping the two attackers close enough for someone to think about jumping across

It's also pointless to say that he is in a panic if it's just because he is hurrying back to the front of the peloton when that was the only smart thing to do.

Of course he was stressed out and in a bit of panic after just having crashed.

He had to change his bike and only had Laporte that could help pull for him. He had to do the last bit himself. Considering Steven has just crashed and was out, Im sure the team as a whole was in a bit of panic.

Such a dumb thing to get hung up on and wanna argue about, because you didnt like the wording. Do something more productive.

To be fair I think most people were questioning it given the fact he's been doing lots of work. And all of a sudden he wants to let the injury heal. It's almost like he's thinking about himself rather than the team.
Don't get me wrong, I could be totally wrong, but there's something odd about it
Contador did 6W/kg for 20 minutes on a broken tibia. Just because they can drop the weaker riders doesn't mean they're not injured and getting worse.

Kuss has always been inconsistent though, it's why the handful of opportunities he got to ride for himself last year didn't work out.
He has always been inconsistent yes. But still he's more inconsistent so far than last year if both his tour and vuelta is included.

He talked in his interview on LR about how he seems to do better riding for others than himself so he prefers the former.

I doubt BEX will get this back when their two biggest engines are not there - Durbridge out with COVID and Bauer crashed just before the climb.

Pinot stayed in a race with a bad back for too long, that was a bad call. Maybe this extra week of rest can be what makes the Vuelta possible to win for Roglic.

What I've been thinking too. Would have hated to see another Pinot-situation.

How are those 2 gaining time.
If the peloton wants to keep Groenewegen behind they need to go faster and thry to crack him on the next uphill part.
