He had zero need to cover all the JV attacks so far away from the finish line in stage 11.

It is only in hindsight you could say that and knowing what would eventually happen on Granon.

When he was covering those attacks and going over Galibier he looked to be in control. Later Majka was leading the group on the early parts of Granon, it was no panic then. That obviously changed within a few minutes.

It is lazy to say it was because of his ego. Something someone would say that just dislikes him. It was more complicated and a learning experience.
 
Jumbo rode perfectly and they are going to win this easily. Pogi defeated by his own ego.

Actually they could've distances Thomas if van Aert was at the top and pulled hard directly. Also Vingegaard could've tried to drop Poga and let van Aert pull hard for him. It woud've been epic with 3 duo's most likely.

You're right, but it was questionable even in the moment whether he should cover the attacks of Roglič.
