Van Hooydonck up the road also? That leaves Vingegaard with just 3 team mates and with Vlasov in the break they can't sit up too much.

But a bunch of teams other than Jumbo and UAE will get nervous about Vlasov too if the gap approaches 10 minutes...

I don' think UAE will chase, they will have Jumbo do the work, its win or nothing for Pogacar. Ineos on the other hand might get involved if it goes out towards 6/7 minutes.

UAE had one job. Not letting WVA in the break. They failed big time

They haven't really been great at preventing it so far in the race, so it's hardly a surprise. But Vingegaard only having 2.5 helpers with him might not be that bad for UAE.

Jumbo visma is seriously the most stupid team in the sport. And yet they are favourite for this tour, because their main rival has terrible team and Ineos Gerant Thomas probably isn't strong enough. (Very strong team thought)

But jumbo don't deserve to win this. So stupid.

You are defending the yellow jersey and you sent 2 of your best gregario in the break with a gc rival.

Meanwhile 2 riders have already abandoned and another is injured.

The gc leader is bad at bikehandling and positioning.

The stage potentially will have crosswinds before the climbs. And you leave him with Kuss and Laporte in the bunch.

How is this team so stupid? Is Belgian pozzato the driving force behind this incompetence?

Wout in the break makes sense for helping Jonas on the final descent. The thing is: If Wout has a decent shot at the stagewin, will he drop that to help Jonas? He didn't on the Ventoux last year, where Jonas could have really used him

Laporte can single-handedly keep all breaks in check until Lers.

I think any issues for Jumbo might start from Lers on and not earlier

Putting Van Hooydonck in the break makes little sense. They are going to have to drop him back at some point as he will not get over the climbs.

There was much less at stake last year. Vingegaard wouldn't have made up over five minutes to Pogacar, even with ten Van Aerts at his disposal, and that would have been against the rules anyway.

So far this is a puzzling start to the stage - Have no idea what will happen in the break or in the GC.

As strong as Laporte might be, one rider will not keep 26 riders in check for 100km. They are going to need assistance from other teams or drop Van Hooydonck back. Maybe they are hoping to rely on Ineos to do the work for them.

It's funny how good tactics are being painted as stupid tactics.

If they need Van Aert and Van Hooydonck to work, they can always call them back from the break. They don't tire any faster while riding in such a numerous break.

But having them in the break gives them more flexibility. Maybe they.ll be there to work later in the stage if something happens on the climbs.

Vlasov first needs to gain at least 11 minutes today (a big ask) and then ride the remaining stages as well as Vingegaard- which is impossible unless his form has improved during the rest day. I don't think they need to worry to much about him just yet.

Just looked at the stage and Jumbo either need to drop Van Hooydonck back soon or hope Ineos or maybe even DSM start helping as leaving Vlasov go away like that could be a mistake.
