Vingegaard's smile was much wider, more relaxed and bigger than his previous podiums. I guess he hasn't heard of the danish late tour tt curse.

They enjoyed that, a great tactical win by Laporte, Phillipsen could have followed but held back, Laporte got a short breather and was able to pull away.

Lol at Pog sprinting, such a racer...

That’s where I watched it live, and it definitely made it exciting! But You could tell the announcers (Durant and I think Steve Chanel) were upset that he didn’t attack right over the top when he came up on the 3 breakaway riders. But LaPorte played it perfectly.

I can't take more than about 5 seconds of Horner's manic delivery, so I don't know what he's been saying. Assume he's criticizing the tactics of the team which has 5 stage wins and the Yellow, Green, and Polka Dot jerseys wrapped up?

Knuckleheads the lot of them. Yesterday Wout should have been in the peloton. But that’s a moot point since the four seconds Pog gained way-back-when cost Jumbo the tour. But his greatest moment was when he claimed that Wout being in the squad (instead of Dennis) is what caused Roglic to crash on the Roubaix stage.

Didn't watch today, did just see the replay of the last 1.5k to. Can someone explain the Ewan bashing? Seemed he was in a decent position this time but just stops sprinting (actually ridiculous knowing he could've gotten 3rd and thus 25 UCI points there)? Also doesn't trust Van Rensburg, never follows his wheel.

Ridiculous from Jumbo once again, but no surprise there.

Philipsen for the Champs, still has the top form and seems to have taken another step this year. Top tier right now.

Lotto's season performance reminds me of German soccer team Schalke 04 in the 2020/2021 Bundesliga season.

Guess what, they relegated.

They have 19 wins this season, there's like 6 teams that have more. It isn't that bad. Obviously this Tour is horrible and their main classics were horrible too but this year is definitely not the reason why they're relegating.

Speaking of which, what was the point of bringing Gilbert to the Tour (was thinking this as he was dropped by the peloton on the run-in)? Did he really want to do it one last time and request to be included?

Sponsors obviously. If you're highest paid riders want to go to the Tour, they go. It's dumb definitely knowing him and Wellens could've gotten a lot of UCI points in the races after the Tour.
Campenaerts literally made them put in his contract that he would never be selected for the Tour because sponsors want it.

Thank you for enduring that genius analysis. What a terrible Tour Wout has had, and at such cost to his team. It's been the most selfish Tour ride I've ever witnessed.

...
The questionner asked Pidders for a dissertation on the history of young riders in the Tour de France. No wonder he deferred.
Great point. What a bizarre couple of questions. He could have been a lot less nice about it, but chose to make a self deprecating comment. I like that guy. F**cking great rider to watch, seems very cool off the bike.

Just dipped in and out today, thinking it was going to be a boring sprint stage, but what a finish by Laporte. Love seeing the sprinters getting their asses handed to them. I keep thinking of the 92 Tour, first sprint stage was stage 10, the second was in the final few days with Thierry Marie launching a late attack to outwit the sprinters, like Laporte today. The second sprint stage won by an actual sprinter was in Paris. We need more Tours like this.
