You really can't blame him. I keep telling you, people reach an age where they are just happy they remember something.

I keep telling you because I am happily surprised that I remember it.

I know Phill Liggett misses things, and Bobke gently corrects him, but for me Phil is the voice of cycling, the voice of summer, and it's comforting that he's still got the wheel. I hope he goes and goes.

Epic scene and setting. France and the organizers sure know how to do it right. A really good tour that every bike racing fan should of enjoyed.

Was hoping for a photo finish with WVA in the mix so it wasn’t the final sprint I wanted but still, not bad. A bit more redemption for Philipsen after stage 4 but he won this easily.

Perfect leadout from BEX for their sprinter Philipsen.

Ewan managed to be in the winners wheel with 300-400m to go in 4 different sprints and not make a single podium. That's an achievement.

Kristoff was determined to get Groenewegen's wheel and bumped Ewan until Ewan felt a violent front wheel tug and dropped away. So Kristoff won that battle, for what that was worth.

I think the best sprinter won though.

He's a puncheur now, focusing on world championships and Sanremo, doesn't stand a chance in this first post-Tour criterium

Looking forward to not seeing him for 2 months now to drop with 60k to go at worlds

Just don't think he has the skills, or perhaps mentality to win these days without a solid leadout? And at Lotto, that's De Buyst.

That whole "he doesn't have a leadout" is such BS this Tour. Has nothing to do with his failing. He has been in a good position in every single sprint. Not a single sprint has been won by a guy with an actual leadout till 200-150m to go. He just seems to make wrong decision after wrong decision. Also a bit scared to be riding close to someones wheel (result of his crashes last and this year) which gives other riders an opportunity to steal that wheel.

Agreed! Phil is “THE” voice of racing in America and it wouldn’t be the same without him. Losing Sherwen was bad enough, don’t want to lose Phil. As you said, Roll is there to “fix” his minor bumbles but overall it just works.

I have watched a lot of these 'highligt' packages of the Tour. And I absolutely agree! I remember one summer in 2011 in Italy where I watched most stages with Phil, and it was a pleasure

The top 3 pure sprinters (Jacobsen, Groenewegan, and Ewan) finished with 2 victories combined. Cavendish had 4 last year by himself.

Isn’t the sponsors main goal advertising, exposure and TV time? I’m pretty sure that’s the case and for that reason QS dropped the ball by not including Cav. He would have gotten Quick Step 20X’s the coverage of Jacobsen even if Jaco is the better sprinter right now. I know it might not be a popular opinion but I want Cav to have the record on his own! I hope he gets on a team capable of a good lead out and he gets #35 next year and retires. He’s the best sprinter I’ve seen in my life. In his prime the power was unmatched by anyone.

The QS director should be fired!
