Theres talk of 40 degrees even in gloomy England next week so the extreme weather protocol might have to come out in the French Alps, fire department hosing riders down like they do in Portugal.

It's a shame Miguel Angel isn't here, he would clean these guys up on those high week 2 stages.

Pogacar and Vingegaard are extremely scared of Thomas. It's the only reason they found it necessary to take 3 seconds on him today. It will not nearly be enough however.
Hmm, maybe they'll also need to take a minute on him on Granon.

Ineos 3 riders in top 7, but all of them are known for being inconsistent and not necessarily great high mountain climbers. Martinez dropping was horrible news

I predict a meltdown in the Alps from at least 2 out of the 3.

i think the main thing is that there is very little difference between them and none has the ability to explode away.

i think G is their best bet and is consistent (if he doesn't crash). he also can kill it on the last TT, so...

Nice action by the break. Great win for Jungels .Looks like O'Connor's race is probably done. He was hoping to recover enough to go for a stage. Poor Ewan must hate these stages. Fans got some stunning views of the scenery today.

not a big deal. once he was dropped, they pulled the plug on his GC aspirations. now he saved energy to support the 2 (or 3?) they have left. it was going to happen eventually...

Should have parked it like Woods then who was in the GC group starting Morgins and finished at 27:35

Congratulations to Bob Jungels for winning the stage.

Good performance today by Pinot and Uran. Although not rewarded i feel that earned respect. Martínez a bit unexpected outcome today. Hopefully he just got a day off. And will make up for that in the days to come.

It'll be warm but the heatwave is more in South and Western France, in the Alpes it'll still be reasonable, especially since they'll be in the high mountains. Galibier will be 16°C, Alpe d'Huez 25°C.

I know this was a joke, but G is looking a lot better than I would have expected a couple of months ago. No one is scared of him I imagine, but if he can hang in there, he will be well positioned in the event that someone falters or crashes or gets Covid.
