It makes me angry that Wout Van Aert polishes his personal image and hides his personal ambitions by bringing bottles to his team and saving their race on the cobbles.

Simply shameless.
Yeah, shoulda brought Sam Oomen instead. Better to be completely useless since at that point you're still regarded as a loyal domestique who can bring some bottles and make some jokes at dinner, being a good roommate, fitting the same bike as Jonas Vingegaard, being Dutch....

Horrible news about Martinez for me. I had such high hope for Martinez in this Tour. But obviously something was wrong with him. He kept suffering in every stage. He was always out of line with INEOS. He never could keep the line with them. Always struggling at the back of the peloton. Some people in the media said that he was over trained. I am not sure. His problem could be a little bit over trained and a little bit pressure. He was always a talented rider but always riding in the background of other leaders. I think trying to avoid the pressure. Pressure works really bad in some riders.

Oh well. INEOS putting their hopes on Thomas and Yates. Yikes. Maybe Thomas will surprise me but I won't put my hopes high on him.

As per Jumbo. Can someone tell me what are they doing? they really want to go head to head against Pogacar? I don't understand. They have the weapons to go long distance. I really hope that they do it this weak.

All this talk about the heat...blah blah blah....I grew up with seemingly most summer days were 90 F (32 C) and 90% humidity on top of that. Drink lots of water and don't stop on your bike...because when you stop you lose the breeze and that's when you feel miserable.

Are you inviting comparisons between your club ride and an alpine stage in the Tour de France?

He had a very good year so far. Maybe he's a bit tired?

UAE drilled it during the stage to sand a message to the others (we can control this race) & dissuade teams from attacking.

Who knows, maybe Pogacar didn't feel well? It's not unusual for the leader team to set a high tempo just to protect their man from a crazy race (whether he's feeling well or not). UAE achieved that yesterday.

All the commentary talk during the stage about UAE "paying for this effort later" was simply the tactical equivalent of the infamous bridge in Denmark, aka hype for the audience to stay tuned for action which never happened.

In my opinion this is how UAE should race. They have yellow jersey and hence they should do the work. If they want to defend it. Otherwise give it to some other team. On this stage hence i must commend UAE for that. If they will pay the price for it after? Likely. It's not unreasonable to expect they will have issues with that. That is to defend the yellow jersey and to race aggressively through and at the end of the stages.

Eh, the way he finished the stage didn't seem like he was feeling bad. Pogacar doesn't really seem to have bad days and even when he does he barely loses any time. It would be nice for tdf if he did show some vulnerability at some point but I don't see it happening.
