Who is pulling if Van Art are in the breakaway? UAE?

And in that case do UAE need to send a Trentin/Soler in the breakaway
No one. Why would UAE chase if Wout is in the break? I expect the break to go all the way today and the peloton, led by Jumbo, rolling through the finish 15-20 minutes behind.

I think Trentin or Soler might want to go into the break (especially Soler).

It will be very hot. Also risk of rain and possibly storms in the late afternoon so they better hurry.
It is almost the first time the purple alert is used IIRC.

the problem is that quite possibly no one is pulling if he is in the break, including his break away mates.

AUE shouldn't care on a day like this. If Jonas can gap Pogi today, then UAE have bigger worries than the extra minute Wout up the road gives Jonas.

Wout is not a factor in GC, not even in the points GC.

Surely these climbs are too long for MVDP? I don't see him surviving.

Extremely wide open stage though, especially if WVA doesn't focus strongly on it.

I don't discount GC action either after the rest day, and with some quiet days ahead.

Finally again a stage design embracing Massif Centrâle, just for my taste.
With personal experiences on roads in vicinity, a good advice:
Don't look to much of a sore stage profile on the closing stages of this stage. They say close to nothing about difficult slopes. Today is such day.

This is the stage for breakaway consisting of high stamina guys. That will work out itself.

If its a breakaway I see Van der Poel surviving this on a good day. Can't say the same about stage 12 though.

Mohorič is my choice for today, he is in good shape and the final should be good for him.

HAHA, Danish TV2 journalist asking Skjelmose what the trick is to hitting the early break today.

His reply: "I'm the worst person to ask that, as I have actually never hit an early break before" :D

On another note, he said he was sure Van Aert would want to hit the break today, as he had heard he would leave the Tour tomorrow - not quite clear if it was an assumption or actually based on something factual.

bro, these climbs are 5%. That's never too hard

That being said. VDP reported this morning he had a bad night and is feeling ill. So my expectations have dropped below 0
