Looks like Jumbo have staked everything on today and that this could well be the stage defining day of the Tour. Vingegaard will attack on Joux Plane and it is likely to be a straight duel with Pog with the strongest man winning.

It's one of the weird things about cycling nowadays. Something that really started to happen last year where apparently UAE and Jumbo can pick one or two stages where their rouleurs have world class climbing performances. McNulty just riding everyone except Pog and Vingegaard off his wheel by two minutes on the Peyreagudes stage was probably the most extreme example, but this is along those lines as well. Laporte riding at the front of the peloton for two 1st category climbs (and quite a bit more) and guys like Ciccone and Pinot completely failing to build a gap against him is so weird.

With the break being caught this early, if the race explodes on Ramaz, Pogacar could well once again find himself the owner of three jerseys later today.
or with none.

He is very unlikely to drop back behind Rodriguez of course, but I'd think it's more likely that he loses time in a stage like this.

No way he is losing the white jersey, he is 4:39 ahead of Rodriguez

Won't be any attacks on Ramaz without riders up front, long descent and valley. 5.5k from the top of Joux Plane is the spot. Vingegaard is a pretty good descender too so it will be a very interesting finale if he gets a gap.

Thats your fault for not having GCN+ ;)

First time in years I haven't had Eurosport / GCN because of work / life commits making it hard to watch races and I am in genuine pain :disrelieved:

Looking forward to ITV making it to the next climb and then missing half of it on ads while we watch the flat.
