better tell Jumbo that cause its sure looked to me they were riding all day for Vine.

Vine isn't riding the Tour and is on UAE.

Of course they are riding for Vingegaard all day, are you proposing they should not, because of the temperature :D

Must have missed Pog getting his sprint blocked followed by both looking like they weren’t going to keep riding.
Of course I saw it. Read the post I made about it above. Pog was still in the same position he'd have been in without the motos, on the front and the favorite to win the sprint. What happened with the motos shouldn't have prevented him from gaining those seconds but he wasn't paying attention and got caught with his pants down and lost a sprint he still should have won.

Think Vingegaard shouldve tried something the last 3k of the ascent. If you close a 5s gap on motopaced Pogacar it implies you have the upper hand.
Why didn't he try then? Especially when it is his favorite terrain as he has said many times ...before today , the day of his favorite terrain. Gained 2 sec. ? Is he weakening. ? I dont dislike Vingo. Not a t all. But this had to be a blow since big TJV move to get rid of Pog that didn't work. Pog isn't going to make same mistakes as last year. Pog is even taking off glasses. This must have a reason. Wants to show effort.

Don’t forget Merckx had they happen to, but it was in his back and damaged his liver.

Maybe I got my stories confused, and it happened to Merckx and not Hinault?

Either way, fans were way worse "back in the day".

Today they are all about getting on TV themselves and getting content for SoMe - in the old days they were directly trying to affect the race.

Rob Hatch w*nking over Vingeaard's bonus seconds 'victory' today... after Eurosport spent all day criticising UAE for yesterday's Grand-Colombier 8 seconds gain.

In other news, those motos were a disgrace. It's not possible to have so many motorbikes impede the race like that.
Hatch really does talk a lot of .... along with being hysterical.

@topt - Inattentive because he wasn't paying attention to Jonas when he attacked, not because of the motos (which honestly he should have been aware of as well, but I don't blame him too much for that as he probably hoped the motos would have room to go forward if he accelerated but he also had to know there was at least a chance he would get blocked)

The whole "Motogate" thing is over the top.

When you watch the replay, Vingegaard was instantly on his wheel.

It is far from given it would have made the slightest difference, if the motos were not there.

Ok, first post. Have been following cycling for nearly fifty years. The chaos factor that the crowd brings on big mountain stages is part of TDF history, it can’t be practically removed and neither should it be. The race would lose a huge amount of sporting drama if they banned crowds or limited numbers. This means that sometimes *** happens, some arsehole wraps his flag around a wheel or motorbikes have to break suddenly with potentially calamitous results. Look at what happened to Porte and Froome a few years ago, they crashed into the motorbike and Froome had to end up running up the hill. Not great but has gone down as a seminal moment in Tour history. Would some of those folks now calling foul for Pogacar today have been laughing at Froome all those years ago? It’s never nice but as I say, it happens and riders have to be on their mettle. When Pogacar launched his attack and had to pull up, maybe he should have looked up ahead at the motorbikes breaking and bided his time. Who knows, maybe the fact that he attacked but didn’t make it stick and then got caught out indicates a tiredness and vulnerability that Jumbo Visma are hoping to exploit.
