There is no such thing as "Norwegian" really - the difference between Norwegian spoken by young people in Stavanger and older people in Oslo is like the difference between Norwegian and Swedish.

Written nynorsk can also be very hard to understand. For instance because it changes "hv"-sounds to "k"-sounds. And vowels from "e" to "a".

On a different note, Danish three generations ago was pronounced quite differently from the way it is spoken today. Add to that the dialects - some of the things Danish is "criticized" for, don't exist in certain parts of the country.
