I totally agree. That's the double-edged sword of having yellow. Yes, Vingo might have to watch Adam Yates a little more, but defending yellow this early will cost UAE. The chess match is on.

He has no problem helping a bit out in the smaller races, but apparently Wout shouldn't expect him to lift a finger, even after what he did last year. Wouldn't have costed him anything and the rest of the team was obviously committed, but oh well.

I dont see that its Vingegaards job as a GC contender at this stage of the race to help Wout win stages like that, his job is to stay out of trouble enough on the stage such that he doesnt need Wouts or the rest of the teams help to keep him in the race and maintain his GC chances, so I think he's kept his side of the deal as far as his involvement is needed, as Wout was then free to go for the win had the numbers he needed with him and then its all upto him

ultimately Wout made his own mistakes by not tracking Lafay, I think on replay its Wout looking completely the other way when Lafay shoots off the front, and then not pushing the speed up to catch him, I guess assuming he didnt have the legs to last, or sprinting up soon enough, if Wout has the power, as he has in the past, another lead out rider wouldnt have made any difference.
