So there are possible scenarios:
1) JV, full of confidence, decides to put the hammer down on Tourmalet trying to finish off Pogacar (who looks weaker now) for good - Wout would be very helpful in a breakaway (way more than today) to help Vinge on those shallow 20 km.
2) More conservative scenario: Vinge trying to gain some seconds on Cauterets (which isn't as lame climb as it looks on the stage profile, it has a nasty section).
3) Revenge day by UAE, Pogacar to go crazy on cold Tourmalet...time to wake up
I hope for option 3 but it's very unlikely to succeed specially if Jumbo manages to put their rouleurs in the break.

If vingegaard is well tomorrow, jumbo should make the race hard on aspin and in the tourmalet for an attack of vingegaard in the last 5/6 km of tourmalet. It's the perfect climb to vingegaard make another statement, but first they should put van aert and Benoot in the breakaway like today. The perfect situation would be these two wait for vingegaard in the top of tourmalet.
kelderman(he needs to help more tomorrow) and kuss should make the race hard on tourmalet.

Vingegaard should and will take hindley seriously. This guy can push a lot of power. I remember very well is performances in fedaia, piancavallo and his performance in the stage of passo dello stelvio on giro 2020.

Back to the future...maybe Jonard Thevegaard is the cannibal slayer after all. I didn't expect this. The nuke. In a parking lot fight, I'm still betting on Tadej, this is the perfect scenario for an epic TdF. Jai...you two made a mistake...

Apart from the obvious Vingegaard/Pogacar show down, I think the rest of the top 10 looks wide open.

Hindley is in the drivers seat for 3rd, but he only has 1:56 to Gaudu in 10th, which can easily be dropped on a single final climb on an off day. However in every GT he has completed thus far, he has been at his best week 3, so I'd be surprised to see him drop off except to Vingegaard and Pogacar.

Ciccone is 1:03 behind Hindley, but has a tendency to have a massive off day somewhere in a GT, he's never finished better than 16th in 10 GTs. He is better positioned than ever though, which gives a lot of motivation.

Buchmann 1:11 behind Hindley will be steady as a rock, but without hitting breaks come in consistently around 10th on mountain finishes. He's the mountain tractor, and will probably be sacrificed for Hindley at some point.

Emirates Yates 1:34 down, is the one I see as the most obvious threat to Hindley's 3rd, but he may get restricted by his captain fighting Vingegaard, and might be sacrificed somewhere.

Pogacar i see surpassing Hindley, if not tomorrow then past the rest day, I think top 2 is still between him and Vingegaard..

Aussie Yates is 1:40 down like Pogacar, and will be the under the radar threat to Hindley, as probably none of the "big 3" will go after him if he attacks, and if we don't see the usual "fighting to preserve 6th" BS from other captains, he may actually have a shot at the podium.

Skjelmose 1:56 down would be a complete sensation in 3rd, and I do believe it's more likely he will fade than improve, But he has ridden a very smart race so far, saving energy when he needed to and expended it when he needed to, he seems like a tactically very adept rider, with a very dedicated team, so who knows..

Rodriguez could improve on being 1:56 down, especially if Ineos start treating him like a captain, but it is questionable if he can pass 6 other candidates for 3rd, unless he lucks out and hits an early move, like Hindley did yesterday.

Gaudu also 1:56 down has been virtually invisible so far in the race. Whether that is him purposefully coming in at a slow burn, to conqueror all week 3, or just him being off form, is a question for week 2 and 3. Right now there is not much hope to be had.

The stage profile could almost be for a queen stage in another TDF. Throw in some cold and rain, and the chances for chaos go way up. How epic would it be for Pog to come out swinging and take back 20 seconds or so on Jonas? It's okay to dream. ... Also, I love that Hindley has thrown a small spanner in the works. What if, instead of fading, he keeps getting stronger? ... It's okay to dream. I'm not putting the (figurative) pipe down, just yet.

Nice to read people still underestimating Jai Hindley. I’d still rank him below Pogacar and of course Vingegaard but you never know - every time he has been on top form at a grand tour he has been strongest in week 3.

But to consolidate his chance at a podium he needs to recover and finish with the heads of state tomorrow.

He really does look like a pure climber - from Perth Western Australia. Always good when a rider makes a breakthrough and then backs it up.

It's only stage 6 folks! :)
If it's wet it'll be slow going all day - Pogacar won't be going in the ice tub afterwards. Bora to lead until final climb and Jumbo push the tempo up until finish.

In the good old days, this stage would be 100km longer and include 2 or 3 additional major climbs

More interest in how Hindley backs up. The less action, the better for him. Don't see Jumbo trying anything early, Vingegaard made good time yesterday on Pogacar. Expect to see another energetic break.

Pogacar vs Vingegaard ROUND 2

Will Poga bounce back & claw his way back in the GC or Vingegaard & JV will do the deed again?
exciting stage

If I were Jumbo I’d try to strike while the iron is still hot, we all know how fast form can change over a GT.
This seems exactly right in my opinion. If form changes, it's really hard to imagine Vingegaard going any better than he is right now, whereas it's not hard to imagine Pogacar improving given that he's probably a bit underbaked. So if I'm Jumbo I'm going to see what Vingegaard can do tomorrow while he's flying - pick up another minute or two and maybe seal the deal.

Will be interesting to see him ride in an all out warfare race where the others sprint attack over and over. Could be like Evans in the early parts of the Contador vs Chicken duel where he just kept clawing back

If Hindley had 10 minutes I still wouldn't bet on him winning, because Jumbo would just target the *** out of him with long range attacks every day and probably get help from UAE as well

Nah because even Vingegaard and Pogacar are human and can't just attack constantly from long range without eventually suffering some consequences themselves.

10 minutes is a huge amount of time against a consistently good climber.

I hope my prediction is very wrong. I see UAE burning all the matches trying to contain breakaway action (in order to fight for stage win and possibly gain some time back) only for Pogi to be once again isolated at the final climb and loosing more time to Vinge. TJV can play similar game than yesterday.
