How was it obvious?
Lack of pure climbing ability. Winning Suisse where the only decent competition was in inconsistent or bad form is a different kettle of fish than the Tour, as he's finding out the hard way. His recovery also has never impressed me.

Maybe a bit harsh.

While I'm here though, so far this is a one week race.

I think all young Danish riders with GC-aspirations, are mindful of not falling into the "Fuglsang-trap", which has been much talked about the past 10 years, with a guy who could have won so much more, if he pivoted away from stubbornly focusing on Grand Tours much sooner in his career.

Obviously Skjelmose is only 22, and this may just be a random off day, but fatigue has always seemed to be his main issue, even in 1 week races.
