They can't let it gain a greater gap, with Trenton and Van Aert in there.

If they gain a big enough gap to survive Tourmalet, it opens up Hindley to attacks already there, instead of just on the last climb.
Maybe yeah.

I also think Hindley is enough of a diesel engine that it would benefit his podium rivals more if they pace was too slow. Or maybe JH wants another stage win :D.

Yeah, I don't think there's a GC threat in the break, but they have yellow and they are keeping order in the peloton, as is tradition. They could let the break go our further, though.
No, that's the whole point of Bora keeping the break relatively close, so that Van Aert can't be any help in the valley. UAE did the same yesterday. If Van Aert gets a bigger gap, you can be pretty sure Vingegaard attacks on Tourmalet.

Who wins today?

I think Pog. He gives it a go at Cauterets-Cambasque and he and Jonas arrive together. Pog takes him at the line.
Yeah I was thinking about this too. Vingegaard not going quite as hard as yesterday and Pogacar staying with him seems like a very realistic outcome too. But then I feel like the gap between Vingegaard and Pog is still so small that Vingegaard really will not want to gift bonus seconds to Pogacar and generally give him life again. Let's wait and see.

Finally a good Tourmalet-ascent in front of us, and from the hardest side. This side of Tourmalet is definitely the 2nd hardest climb of the race.

I don't get it...
WvA is making tempo in the leading group and Jumbo is now taking over the pace (and bringing down the gap) in the Peloton.

Ok, lot's of TV time for Wout & Jumbo, but still....not sure if that's the best tactics (especially if WvA is supposed to be a relais for Vinge)

BORA decided to not let Van Aert play a role in case of a Vingegaard attack, so Jumbo decided to just say thank you for keeping the break on a short leash.

They are making this race hard. They are going to put their rivals to the test.

Maybe they sense that Pog is not at his best, and the time is now to take it to him, not later, when he rides into form. They also want to put peak Jai Hindley to the test.

This could be good!

wtf is going on. I was defending Wout yesterday, but what, is he going to drill it to the lower slopes of the tourmalet now and then stop.
He has zero chance of helping on Tourmalet at this rate
