Hard to believe after Vingegaard was always better in longer efforts. And today as well came back over a longer effort. Strategy for Pogacar should be the good old Sky one. Domestiques ride a tempo that makes it really hard for anyone to attack and then he does mountain sprints.

But even then. Ofc Vingegaard can drop Almeida, Yates and Ayuso whenever he wants.

And, even if its a stalemate now, I would be very worried for the time trial, if I was Pogacar.

So the ball might even be somehow on his side to win more time. And that seems tough.

Strategy for UAE should be to make Visma do work, because they don't have a strong team.

In the end Gall finished alone, only 50sec behind Ciccone, 1min ahead of Gee and Simon Yates, nearly 1 ahead of Buitrago and 2min ahead of Bernal.
He paced himself well after not being able to follow that monster pace on Puy Mary and having to chase early on the stage.

Wow, what a stage! As expected, Pogacar attacks, gains some time on Peyrol and increases the gap on the descent. Game over for the rest? No, epic fightback by Vingo on Pertus climb: he overcame about 30 s of a gap to Pogacar and also distanced Rogla and Evenepoel by about 40-45 s. But the most shocking part was at the end: he beat Pogacar in a sprint! While almost no changes happened between them in the GC it's obvious that it was Vingo, who dealt a psychological blow today to UAE and Pog. The Tour is very much on and Vingo today showed how strong he really is, unbelievable under the circumstances. Teddy, despite his GC lead, will face a difficult battle to win on the race's biggest climbs.

Broke down in tears on the Eurosport interview as well. Not saying he was going to die, but it was very hard months for him.

I actually liked that interview. And he also seems to be an almost crazily dedicated family man. Thanking them, saying without them he can't do it, phoning the wife immediatedly. He might be a bit special, but thats the most I liked him so far. Way better then this cold, extremly efficient and dominant GT machine.

Vingegaard just knows how to manage his efforts. Pog as stated by himself races with his legs. In hindsight him pushing as hard in the descent instead of trying to recover/refuel as much as possible (like Vingegaard) wasn't worth it.

Nah, it was important for him to stay away until the bonus summit, he would have been dropped on that climb if they started it together

Moral of the story:
Don't make the race hard far out and only increase the tempo on the last (hard) climb of the stage, so Pogacar can do a Purito special (and gain time on the descent/false flat afterwards).
