Haven’t seen him since the split. Is Philipsen still in the bunch?
All this work just to be blocked off by Philipsen with 100m to goAnother final where Van Aert would be much better off attacking rather than waiting in the bunch for the sprint.
According to the Tour de France tracking center, yes.Is Philipsen still in the bunch?
Depends on the dynamic: if he attacked than Visma obviously stops pulling, would Lotto keep up chase. Also, he could easily have won yesterday so he’s in for a good chance.Another final where Van Aert would be much better off attacking rather than waiting in the bunch for the sprint.
His leadout is not though.According to the Tour de France tracking center, yes.
Map of the finish in the OP:How technical is the last few k? Will be a very slight downhill the last 5k
The French Mathieu got dropped to attack in the final!I know. The French rider's first name is Mathieu![]()
This 90 degree bend with 1100 meters to go. Couple of open corners/roundabouts. Straight last 500m or so.How technical is the last few k? Will be a very slight downhill the last 5k
Was thinking the same. If Laporte or Wout got away now with a couple riders they’re the favorite.Laporte's condition is rapidly improving, he was really good on the gravel, could go for a flyer here to force the others to chase.

To be fair, he's not exactly been riding for his own chances. I don't think we know what his ceiling is yet, but podium doesn't seem crazy if he were riding for himself. Where and how that might occur I don't know, so probably moot.Expert former pros were equally deluded.
