I said he won a 15 man sprint because people crashed. Those are facts. Any Tour win is a great win, he beat some really good sprinters.

But it wasn't a full field sprint and I'm not disparaging anyone.
Literally only Philipsen was missing. It's just a weak field in general as the other big sprinters at the moment (Merlier, Milan, Kooij sort of) aren't here. Also Meeus who sometimes comes up with world beating sprints.

A field sprint has vastly different dynamics from a small bunch. It’s not just who is and isn’t there. It’s about the team trains, the speed, spacing, and positioning. Bini absolutely benefitted from the smaller bunch dynamic. Still a TDF stage win and a good one.

Vaughters was going on about how EF would be playing chess while the other GC teams were playing checkers - I chalked it up to usual Vaughters BS but maybe he IS a genius. OTOH, even a blind pig finds an acorn now and then.
They wheelsucked their way to a yellow which literally no one else tried to get, and Vaughters acts like he’s a genius. If there’s ever been a bigger Fred in cycling, I don’t know who it is.

Now THAT is disparaging someone.

Sure, but Bora, Soudal and Visma don't have room for a pure sprinter in a GC attempt, and Lidl won't bring both Pedersen and Milan, so this is the best it's gonna get :)

Btw imagine if Italy selects Milan for the Olympics, we could get a Lidl showdown on the line :p

I have no idea, I haven't seen what happened.
Per Charlie Wegelius (and EF's team behavior) EF were trying to get as many of their guys in between Carapaz and all 3 riders in front of him in an effort to push down their finishing rank and secure the yellow jersey.

Literally zero of the other teams with a guy ahead of Carapaz (Visma, Soudal, UAE) made any effort to secure yellow. And Pogi tried to lose it yesterday at the last minute.

De Lie lost his leadout and a lot of places in the first corner. Now he got boxed in when they started. Was surprised he was suddenly in front again.

Bennett rams him in the first of the 2 corners, De Lie almost crashes because of it, that's why he lost so many places. Only mistake he makes is not immediately going himself when Pedersen goes. He follows Mads but doesn't have the initial kick meaning Gaviria boxes him in. If he just went to the right of Stuyven he's free and Girmay would've been boxed in. He needs to learn to go a bit earlier than other sprinters imo. he doesn't have the fast acceleration, his strong suit is long steady sprints. He he can come up to speed he's hard to beat for most sprinters. Him waiting a split second too long gets him boxed in too often.

Ahead of Pogacar, which is what logic said in the message you quoted.
?
They were riding 25km/h, if Healy wanted to make sure he finished ahead of Evenepoel, he had plenty of opportunity and time to make sure of that in the final straight. It's about the manoeuvre of wiggling between other riders and crossing over right in front of Evenepoel, which was not risk free and completely unnecessary imho.

Congratulations to Biniam Girmay Hailu for winning the stage and making history.

Peloton mostly uninterested in doing anything today, beyond riding for 200km+. Some GC teams even not interested in fighting for positions at the front, rather smart if you ask me. Still some crashes at the end, reduced bunch for sprint and Carapaz sprinting and taking the leaders jersey, likely to sleep in it tonight. Congrats!

Chapeau Girmay - tight there against the barriers but good turn of speed. De Lie the normal bad placing problem but he'll learn. Carapaz in yellow - not on my bingo card but maybe no one else really wanted it so early.
Remco 1 man down as Pedersen has gone home.
