Why are people talking about Cavandish and kristoff? You do realise there are actually fast sprinters in the race right?
Because Phil is senile and can't shut up about the story he thinks all his viewers have tuned in to see. He is gonna push Cav the whole Tour, win or lose.

It's American cycling coverage. Gotta find a story that's beyond the race, in this case the English-speaking guy going to break the all-time Tour stage win record. So we get to watch a guy save energy and ride as slow as the data allows, while the guy whose record he might "break" went full gas on every stage he won, winning stages that mattered to the overall.

The whole thing is so freaking dumb it makes me want to pull my hair out.
 
Imagine the Tour not being decided by seconds but by...places count. It takes Pogi, Vingo and Remco having the same time in the TTs (to 0.01 s) and being inseparable in the mountains and then...boom they are sprinting against Philipsen, Jacobsen and co on every flat stage!
