If Van der Poel was actually good here, he would have been joining the Evenepoel/Pogacar move earlier.Mathieu mid-der Poel not done too much for 100k and looking like he's about to collect the free-est win of his life hiding in the bunch

As I say, though... contribute but sandbag, or do short turns making sure they do the lions' share, and see if they'll commit and tire themselves out getting them to work for much longer. Doing what he did and being so transparent about it just meant the move got nuked and now all of them are back in the group not expending energy. It was bad for racing and while it wasn't bad for Jonas, it wasn't as optimal as it could have been. Expend a little to make others expend a lot, so to speak. Not to mention that that would keep Rogla working hard behind as well. Why on earth should Vinge pull? Not his terrain, can't be sure of his form given lack of training, 3rd week is where he can make the difference. If Pog and Remco want to burn energy, fine do that, just good for Vinge.
I prefer Pog to Vingegaard but it's unfair to just call him boring, he's just a more specialised rider than him. He's no WigginsJonas knows where he will be at his best. When he dropped Tadej last year on the Col de la Loze, that was very exciting stuff.
In German Eurosport they are speculating if Tratnik rode on a Vingegaard-optimised bike to begin with.Jan Tratnik is 65kg 173cm. (number7)
Jonas is 58kg 175cm
and you can bet the contenders will speculate in these things. as not having your own optimised bike, is an issue.
I've seen some nice shots of haybales today, to be fair...This is much more exciting than haybale stage
Winning over neutral spectators is not his objective.Maybe. Reactive, most of all. Risking nothing unless they need to. It's called 'smart' as long as it's working, but it's also not winning over any neutral spectators.
I was thinking the same thingMust be the first time Remco didn't get away when he attacks.
yup!Bambi on ice: ❌
Bambi on gravel: ✅
Wasn’t it the gravel stage back then who gave him this nickname?
He heard Grischa on the radio yelling suck wheel, so he sucks wheel. As I say, though... contribute but sandbag, or do short turns making sure they do the lions' share, and see if they'll commit and tire themselves out getting them to work for much longer. and it won't happen this year.Jonas knows where he will be at his best. When he dropped Tadej last year on the Col de la Loze, that was very exciting stuff.
