Honestly, it's pretty crazy that in 2025 it will have been 12 years since a mtf on top of the Ventoux. I know it's not 12 years without the Ventoux at all, but still.
Tbf they were supposed to have a MTF 2016, but it got moved to Chalet Reynard because of the wind. You would have thought they might have returned quicker than 2021 though, like they did when Tignes got cancelled. Also, given they've pedestrianized the summit, it possible any more?
Then again they finished up Puy du Dome so it's probably still possible.

they literally did a double Ventoux in 2021m including the part over the pedestrian summit

Could we be back to a '90s design where the route is all smoke and mirrors week one, pure crap, and a long ITT creates the first real gaps? Luxembourg '92 on stage 9, with different riders, and unlike '92, the big cats can all perform well in an ITT.

The return of a TdF 55-60 km ITT? I kinda like it!

After all these years I know better: someway, somehow, ASO will F the design up. But I also know that in some sort of a weird way that was not part of the plan, it will deliver. ...something...as usual. What? No idea...

Tadej Pogacar will win this bike race and I will give it an 8. That, I know.

By 2025 Pog will have burnt out due to winning races all season long, Rogla will have returned to ski-jumping (following 2024 TdF win) and Vingo will have resumed fishing job. To sum things up: Remco will be the new sheriff in town!

I know, but I meant finish up there, with the lack of space plus infustrcture ect..

Think the lack of finish at the top was more Gouvenou being Gouvenou

At least we ended up with a ~200km mountain stage out of it, however. His once every 5 year 200km mountain stage

Tbh I actually really liked the design of that stage.

A classic "modern" TDF route?

Peyragudes MTF
Mont Ventoux MTF
Alpe d'Huez MTF
Super Planche des Belles Filles
Something other in the Pyrenees like a Tourmalet-Hautacam combo.

I think that would be called "Lenny Martinez friendly" enough. Just make sure there's hardly any ITT kms.

Barring the traditional big pile-up/favourites crashing out early, the first 3 stages for 2025 can be watched from about the last 30 kms. Cav might well not retire yet ... The "Lenny Martinez friendly tour" is under way! :)

well, interesting second stage, but the first stage they should have made a prologue and the third they could have spiced it up with some more cotes kemmel + the ones from what is now the first stage

or even better stage 1 a prologue and the 3rd stage Dunkerque - Valanciennes the other way around, with Kemmel and some cobble stone sectors in the final

The final of stage 2 is quite good. Really steep final 3 climbs.

Its not a great start of the Tour like expected but at least the second stage should give us some entertainment, looks really good for Van der Poel too.

I still hope for some cobbles and a 'long' flat TT during the first week otherwise it will be boring.

Looks like the Denmark Grand Depart but without the enormous crowds lining the entire route.

The 2023 and 2024 opening stages contained a lot of proper opportunities to toughen up the race and make gaps. This is a far more traditional start to the race and underwhelming.

Although in general it's a bit disappointing that 2 out of 3 stages will be a snooze or crash fest, at least stage 2 is very decent:

Is this the same route as the 2012 stage that was won by Sagan? Looks similar.
