I’m just hoping Montmartre is going to be decisive for the stage and not just climbed before an X number of laps of the usual final stage circuit. Saw the rumors from Jacky Durand that it may be climbed thrice and that the final Montmartre will be at 4 km from the finish. Guess we’ll have to wait one more week before knowing if that is true.

If so, the bigger news is Prudhomme FINALLY told Gouvenou to make a better stage

The Tour de france graphic designer (or AI) seems to think Pogi will do just fine.

I made the route, and I like Champs Elyssee and want as much of it, as I can get right before the finish, and also the false flat uphill finish is good.

Noticed a significant difference in the La Plagne climb this year compared to its last usage in 2002

In 2002, they stopped a few km down at 1880m. This year, it looks like they are climbing to the actual summit at 2052m

The rumors from Durand was right. 3x Montmartre, with the last one coming with like 6 km left.

If it's a one-off to celebrate the anniversary, I like it very much. But if they will use it again, then depending on how it goes this year, I'd prefer alternating between the long (hilly) and short (flat) circuits, so it's: long-flat-long-flat-long-flat, where the last Montmartre would be with 12.9 km to go.

EDIT: On the map, it looks like they do the full Rue Lepic, but the video shows them skipping the first 100 m and do Puget and Coustou instead (which makes no sense to me).

In the Olympics, they did the full Rue Lepic. But maybe due to roadworks? I still hope the video is wrong, it makes no sense to use more narrow roads and with more corners at the beginning of the climb.

I never liked these procession stages. It's just an extra boring sprint stage to finish off something amazing, a GT.

I really like it, hats off the ASO. As much as we criticise routes on here, you have to give them credit for this.

IMO it's no more dangerous than a bunch sprint.

The roadworks at the bottom of rue Lepic are due to the fact this part of the street will become pedestrianised. The work isn't finished yet but they've installed permanent planters and widened the sidewalks, so this part of the street is already much narrower than it was during the ORR. They may even add bollards or barriers to block vehicles. Bad timing...

This is great. Before there was nothing to watch in the last week except the 3 MTFs. Now we have the last 10km of Stage 21. I calculate a 7.5% viewing increase.

Going right past my house! Amazing. If it’s rainy could be ultra treacherous. The left turn off boulevard Clichy could also be a danger point. Am also not sure the route descends on Ave Junot, which would be awesome.

Sprint zone is the 3 km rule counting for the last 5 km of the stage, I assume. I guess the 3" rule will also be in effect.

Has anyone been to watch the final stage before? I'm going this year (not just the final stage, some of the others too). Someone told me the Tuileries is a good place to watch, but now I don't know whether to try for a spot on Montmartre. Looks like it would be jam packed though.
