Because when you're in your mid 20's and you've been training intensely for many years, the margins for improvement become tiny. That's why Pogi's sudden huge leap in level last year is such a mystery.

Or like Vingegaard's jump from 2021 to 2022 at the same age.

Well, he's going to finish around his 2022 pace, it's just that that pace is nowhere near enough to be close to Pogacar in 2025
