In the Pog era, If ASO are serious about reducing the amount of sprint stages, then they basically need 15 hilly stages, with two MTFs at the end to keep it interesting?

The Basque crash has set Jonas back too much and he hasnt improved in the intervening time like Pog has

If I had a pound for all the times I heard a rider say their numbers are better but in a hard stage/race the facts are evident more than training numbers

Also difference this year is some of the young riders have stepped up so Remco is not guaranteed a podium

Did Vingegaard even beat his own 2022 time? Regardless of what Pogacar did, he has clearly regressed in relation to the rest of the field, and also compared to his own level in 2023.
No Vingegaard climbed it in like 37:40, like Tadej in 2022. First mountain stage, so maybe anomalous as some people underperform but compared to Nibali/2022, he should have been much fresher.

Roglic is finished. Will be interesting to see if this is Remcos level this year or if it was just a bad day. Lipo favorite for 3rd right now.
This was a good day for Remco. I have never seen anything to suggest he can compete with the best in the high mountains.

He needs to ride some spring classics.

Yes. Vinge is terrible considering he had a clean prep for this race. We already saw it in the ITT last week though.

As for Rog, chapeau, no complaints. A lot of guys are just stronger. Lipowitz was really good.

Sad day for the Tour. I was hoping Vingegaard was gonna be closer.

Remco both better than expected after midway stage crisis and about 25 sec worse than expected before the stage began. I figured he would lose around a minute today on Vingegaard.

"Terrible" is a bit much.

In any other era he would win every race, he just happens to be competing against the greatest stage race rider of all time.
