They asked him if this was "revenge," and he said that was a narrative of other people. He said he rode today's race, today. It was about him doing the best he could today. Only some of his fans, and journos trying to get clicks, are pushing the revenge narrative. Pog has more class than that, and anyone pushing that narrative.Yep...
I agree. Jonas being slowly caught by Lipo, says he expended energy he shouldn't have.its possibly true but I dont think today Jonas or Visma rode to the best of their abilities because of their tactics
Gouveu is looking more and more like a genius right?Do we need the Alps?
Downhill tour, let Pidcock's team in.Gouveu is looking more and more like a genius right?
Flat tour coming soon
Who complained that the first mountain stage was too late?Do we need the Alps?
I did, and even with these time gaps, I stand by that. Its always better for the race to get early selection, makes more a safer peloton and makes for more interesting racingWho complained that the first mountain stage was too late?
Well, he already had a bad day on the other big GC day, so it‘s starting to be quite suspect. On the positive side, I genuinely think Jonas had a bad day and I don't expect a repeat on Saturday. If the gap stays similar I think he might at least try something in the Alps. Not that I think he can actually drop Pogacar but I would be much more negative about the rest of the race if Vingegaard himself had a 2 minute gap on everyone behind him.
Yup. Unfortunately, bad on the two days he really needed to be good, with predictable results. Sorry to see it, for both him AND the race.Well, he already had a bad day on the other big GC day, so it‘s starting to be quite suspect.
One big factor that's not really been talked about in regards to the low performance is that the entire peloton was stretched out in one file all day, so they probably did much higher watts on the flat before Soulor than they normally do on similar stages.
Good point. All you have to look at the time gaps behind, even though it also shows that the depth of the GC field is quite suspect. It makes Pogacar not thermonuclear time more impressive, as does his crash. One big factor that's not really been talked about in regards to the low performance is that the entire peloton was stretched out in one file all day, so they probably did much higher watts on the flat before Soulor than they normally do on similar stages.
Yeah that's a good point. I'm probably coping. That's a bad day so far on every effort longer than 3 minutes.
Del Toro is going nowhere!! He knows he is among cycling royalty and will work in the king's court as long as he will have him. The dilemma is with all the injuries, many quality riders coming available equal to or better than Del Toro when Pogacar picks his supporting staff for Vuelta..he picked Del Toro for pacing at Strade Bianche..will he have a spot on Pog crew in Spain?Pog certainly has a boss' attitude sometimes, but he really never gloats, and shows humility continually. That's why I can't dislike the guy. I would rather Jonas had won, and I will say that any hope of that ever happening this Tour or in the future, is gone.
I do hope that someone will emerge in the next year or two, to take over Jonas's place as an actual challenger, because his day of dropping Jonas is gone. I just want a real challenger for the sake of watching something with intrigue.
Here's to hoping del Toro will be lured away to another team. Probably too tall, and probably never be able to climb like Pog, but the kid has something special.
