I didn't expect this before but the TT looks way less anticipated right now. Pogacar is already destroying the competition in the GC. It seems the race for victory is over (barring some disaster).

This reminds me of the 2001 Tour, with the Alpe d'Huez stage followed by the mountain TT up to Chamonix (I believe, might be misremembering).

Which means Vinge will ship another minute tomorrow if it follows the same logic (Ullrich lost nearly 2 minutes versus Lance on Alpe that year the day before the mountain ITT).

It's basically a glorified uphill prologue. Gaps will be minimal and whilst every stage has a certain merit, I don't really see the appeal in this one stuck in the middle of the race.

If anyone not called Pogacar wins this then I will be shocked.

Ofc if youre only watching to see who wins, you can prolly skip. But there are so many other interesting riders and storylines to follow. Obiviously you'd much rather watch a stage like this than stage 3 this year
You're right, it's just that I expect the cameras to remain largely on Pog and Jonas. And random French dudes of course.
I'm afraid they're not gonna show us much of those other interesting riders and storylines 🙁

It definitely looks like Pogi can distance the second guy by a minute at least (again I didn't expect such a gap before but today changed everything). If Vingo gets better tomorrow maybe he can limit his losses to 40 seconds or so or...maybe not.

I think the best comparison is the Alpe di Siusi MTT in 2016 - 10.8km v 10.9km; 2.5km flat v 2.9km flat; 8.3km at 8% v 8km at 7.9%. It's almost identical, and that one also came after an excellent and hard Dolomite stage.

We had OK gaps there, about a minute separating the top ten, and 2:10 to Nibali. Expecting something similar, though extended ofc because of the Pog effect and also the slightly weak depth of the field here (especially considering many of the better second tier climbers ride for UAE or Visma).

Are you sure your numbers are correct? As per PCS we have 602 metres of net elevation gain tomorrow compared to 777 metres tomorrow.
