Looks like basically no windHow is the wind?
But T1 is already 1km into the climb, no? But even then, you're probably right.Fastest is 5'50 at T1. We're not getting sub 22 minutes
That's a kilometre up the climb, so makes sense that the flat section is done in around 4 minutes and that kilometre in 1:45 or so.Fastest is 5'50 at T1. We're not getting sub 22 minutes
According to Axelgaard at Danish TV2 the forecast showed more favourable wind for the early starters. How is the wind?
And now we have our Foliforov.I think the best comparison is the Alpe di Siusi MTT in 2016 - 10.8km v 10.9km; 2.5km flat v 2.9km flat; 8.3km at 8% v 8km at 7.9%. It's almost identical, and that one also came after an excellent and hard Dolomite stage.
We had OK gaps there, about a minute separating the top ten, and 2:10 to Nibali. Expecting something similar, though extended ofc because of the Pog effect and also the slightly weak depth of the field here (especially considering many of the better second tier climbers ride for UAE or Visma).
Oh yeah, I for sure understood your point, the point I was making is I think the result of that today for him is imho he's going to have a harder recovery than the other guys because of it. Had he paced himself more like Lipo I agree he'd have maintained a bigger gap and I'd be more bullish for him but I think the damage has been done. This is kinda my point (the bolded).I think if Vingegaard did Lipowitz' pacing 'strategy' he'd have a bigger gap to Lipowitz.
Remco should do well today. At least 4th behind Lipowitz, if not 3rd.
Plap did 1760 VAM from T1-finish. I can see maybe 1950 happening but not the 2000 probably required to OTL Merlier. That's a kilometre up the climb, so makes sense that the flat section is done in around 4 minutes and that kilometre in 1:45 or so.
I think 23 minutes is likely tbh. Yeah, Plapp just did 24:58, there's no way Pogacar doesn't best that by two minutes at least
Plapp did 1850 surely? 585 metres in 19 minutes.Plap did 1760 VAM from T1-finish. I can see maybe 1950 happening but not the 2000 probably required to OTL Merlier.
Good to know, that understanding cycling is still too complex for KI..According to Chatgpt, a time of 24.30 to 24.45 for the winner is realistic - and that is even after I have prompted it with Plappy's 24.58 time. The argument is that Plapp is Australian TT champ![]()

I'm hopeful for Remco today; even though it's short the dynamic between Lipo, Remco, and Vingo (there's a limerick or song lyric in there, I can feel it!) will be very interesting.
I think I'm getting bamboozled by different profiles.Plapp did 1850 surely? 585 metres in 19 minutes.
Epic!!!🎶 "Chasing Pogi"
Tour de France Showdown Anthem
(Verse 1)
Out in the Alps, the sun starts to rise,
Three warriors stare at the mountain skies.
Lipo’s got fire, he's young and he's bold,
Remco's all heart with legs made of gold.
Vingo’s a shadow, ice in his vein,
Eyes on the prize, through the wind and the rain.
But out on the front, so calm and so free,
Pogi just smiles — “You’ll never catch me.”
---
(Chorus)
🎵 Pogi's dancing in the morning light,
Spinning through the peaks, out of sight.
While Lipo grinds and Remco flies,
And Vingo watches the yellow rise.
Three chasing dreams, but destiny’s clear:
Pogi’s in Paris, sipping champagne and cheer. 🎵
---
(Verse 2)
Lipo attacks with a thunderous roar,
Remco responds, he’s hungry for more.
Vingo digs deep, he’s still in the fight,
But Pogi’s a ghost in the mountains tonight.
Fans on the roadside, flags in the breeze,
Legends are written on days like these.
But no one can match that effortless grace,
As Pogi rides off — alone in first place.
---
(Chorus)
🎵 Pogi's dancing in the morning light,
Spinning through the peaks, out of sight.
While Lipo grinds and Remco flies,
And Vingo watches the yellow rise.
Three chasing dreams, but destiny’s clear:
Pogi’s in Paris, sipping champagne and cheer. 🎵
---
(Bridge)
From stage to stage, they gave it their all,
Crashes and climbs, answering the call.
But every time they reached for the sun,
Pogi was there — already done.
---
(Final Chorus)
🎵 Pogi's dancing down Champs-Élysées,
Golden jersey, a Tour ballet.
Lipo, Remco, and Vingo too,
Heroes all — but second will do.
He rode like a king, with flair and with glee,
The prince of the peloton, that’s Pogi! 🎵
