That's a kilometre up the climb, so makes sense that the flat section is done in around 4 minutes and that kilometre in 1:45 or so.

I think 23 minutes is likely tbh. Yeah, Plapp just did 24:58, there's no way Pogacar doesn't best that by two minutes at least

I think the best comparison is the Alpe di Siusi MTT in 2016 - 10.8km v 10.9km; 2.5km flat v 2.9km flat; 8.3km at 8% v 8km at 7.9%. It's almost identical, and that one also came after an excellent and hard Dolomite stage.

We had OK gaps there, about a minute separating the top ten, and 2:10 to Nibali. Expecting something similar, though extended ofc because of the Pog effect and also the slightly weak depth of the field here (especially considering many of the better second tier climbers ride for UAE or Visma).

This is kinda my point (the bolded). I think if Vingegaard did Lipowitz' pacing 'strategy' he'd have a bigger gap to Lipowitz.

Remco should do well today. At least 4th behind Lipowitz, if not 3rd.

Oh yeah, I for sure understood your point, the point I was making is I think the result of that today for him is imho he's going to have a harder recovery than the other guys because of it. Had he paced himself more like Lipo I agree he'd have maintained a bigger gap and I'd be more bullish for him but I think the damage has been done.

I'm hopeful for Remco today; even though it's short the dynamic between Lipo, Remco, and Vingo (there's a limerick or song lyric in there, I can feel it!) will be very interesting.
