Simon Yates working on flat roads... this should be what Van Aert is here for, if he gave a single crap about his teammates.
Pog is staying neutral, TV says that rolling gap is @1O seconds so Visma, Bora have to go back and make up the minute to catch back on.. Plus UAE only has @5-6 riders to pay attention to until Paris, if they want more cake..ok cool..but if winning GC is the objective.. if Powless is rolling off the front with MVP not important..

Cycling is different these days.

In the old days, Indurain or Armstrong would have gone to the front and told them to knock it off, and everyone would have stopped.

When Pogacar tries nobody cares and everyone keeps attacking.
If the GC guys want to wait for each other it's their business, that shouldn't affect anyone trying to get into the breakaway.

Who cares what he has been promised when the team leader gets caught behind a crash?

You tell me. Jumbo Visma did the exact same thing with Rog back in the 2021 Tour with the Colbrelli crash. Everyone pulled Rog back to the finish except Van Aert who went for the stage win.

It's just the way the team works on a contractual level. It's nothing personal.
