Exactly, and because they are riding de la Loze from the easy side, Madeleine is where Visma needs to put Pogacar under maximum pressure, they cannot wait for de la Loze.

That doesn't mean Vingegaard goes before de la Loze, but it means Visma needs to start cooking Pogacar already on Madeline, as preparation.

Ideally Vingegaard would create separation before the top of Madeleine and link up with a teammate or 2 over the top - but I don't think he can drop Pogacar already then (if at all).

The problem with visma cooking is they usually burn themselves

UAE’s problem is they only really have Politt, Narvaez, and Wellens as relevant domestiques - and Narvaez isn’t they type to do an extended pull. It seems like Visma should be able to shred the group whenever they like and there’s nothing UAE can really do to prevent it.

maybe it's because he is French, but I found it interesting that VPP said he wouldn't challenge Martinez for mountain points, to improve his chances to beat Pogacar. Especially as Trek basically radioed the same about green today, saying that the peloton doesn't want Pogi to win it.

Martinez, on the other hand, has done his best to gift polka dots to Pogacar by taking points off Arensman on Glandon, then disappearing on the Madeleine (if not getting DQed)
