Yeah but for example in the Giro Fortunato was at least in good form. He deserved it, it was boring with his lead but that was because he was smart and good. This is different, Martinez hasnt had good legs all Tour long and might win this depending on tomorrow.

Why? If Pogačar gets dropped, I doubt he has saved himself so he‘ll just be more tired in the following valley.

maybe it's because he is French, but I found it interesting that VPP said he wouldn't challenge Martinez for mountain points, to improve his chances to beat Pogacar. Especially as Trek basically radioed the same about green today, saying that the peloton doesn't want Pogi to win it.

I have felt too that this may be the main reason, as in even with breakaway points being uncontested a gc rider wins the dots almost by accident at times. So maybe theres some silent (or not so silent) agreement, that theres just gonna be 1 main guy going for points from the breakaway
