He was expected to be before Onley though.
And he was one of the main contenders for the podium even before the Tour.
Not in RBHs planning. His season objective was the Dauphiné where they tried him as a Captain for the first time. Then he was expected to use his remaining form to help Roglic in the tour. They never had him on the cards for a podium. That happened because Roglic couldn't follow on some of the Pyrenaes stages.

How does what Lipowitz is doing have any bearing on Roglic? Visma would be setting the pace one way or the other.
Only that he is ahead of him/ gaining time if he is actually worried about Roglic stealing third 😅 what lipo is doing makes no sense at all

Yates is losing time to O'Connor. This is going nowhere for the GC group unless Vingegaard or Pogi attack in the next 3kms.

Simon Yates is now losing time to Ben O'Connor. Either soft pedalling or he is cooked.
The problem is, the next kilometers are quite easy and Visma only has two helpers left. If they switch to Kuss now they essentially give up on ever setting a high pace at a spot where the gradients are high. It was either gonna be an attack on the first 10 km or Yates pacing for close to 20 km

I think Visma's plan now is, to have Yates and Kuss drill it over the "easy" 6 K, and then Vingegaard goes deep the last 6.5K in a last desperate attempt.
