I'm being optimistic here, but Pogacar did take longer than usual to react to those attacks in the valley.

UAE have literally set Pogacar up in 3 of his stage wins. They’re just not consistently present to offer assistance.

Really? It seems Pogacar manages well by himself. And in the situations when a team mate tries to do a real difference, like Politt the other day, he comes out empty-handed.

It's in part the result of two riders and two teams being much stronger than the rest.

But even in the case of Lidl-Trek, most attempts to lead Milan to points in the intermediate sprints have failed.

They tried to risk a lot in the descent to see Pogacar crash.

I really don't think so. If this was supposed to be a downhill attack and they didn't even get Felix Gall into trouble then it was quite a pathetic one. Also why do you even need to wreck the race like that on a climb if the masterplan was all about the downhill in the first place.

But what can they do? They can try to increase the gap to third in the GC, but Vingegaard doesn't seem to regard that as important.

Visma had done everything right in isolating Pogacar and then for some reason undone all their good work by Jorgensen getting separated from Vingegaard which was amateur stuff. Only to be outdone by Gall who made an even worse error in allowing O'Connor ride away.

The first mistake was riding behind jorge. His pace was not high enough

They could have ridden Jorg to the foot of the climb and then try to attack with Vingo. But what they did is one of the worst tactical moves since the Maginot line.

False flat downill is slightly better because if riders do 150 watts they just lose time much less quickly.

I mean when Vinge couldn't drop Pogacar on Madeleine, I'm not sure what tactic they could have used. No point killing themselves in the valley with Pogacar in the wheel.
