Thought so too but the overhead shot showed it was about a bike length still, didn't close much.

yep it was one of those camera compressions as head on it looked like a tyre width at most, and then side on its like oh that wasnt that close at all

The finale was interesting. Top GC dogs didn't attack on the steepest climbs (Vingo attacked once at the top) but the tempo by Visma/UAE was very strong. As I expected, MVP vs Pogacar at the end and Matthieu looks too fast on these kind of finishes. Congrats.

lolled at Hatches comment about Rodriguez though, as if it was unexpected he'd ship time, did anyone expect him or Ineos to be able to get him to compete with these riders at the front ?

Vingegaard is very smart. He is always behind Pogacar and can grab a few seconds by just wheelsuck his wheel in the sprint.
like pog can cleverly steal seconds wheelsucking mvdp...? Let's just appreciate that ving is now outpunching Alaphillipe and Vaquelin (granted the latter wasted energy on some attacks)

MVDP's sprint was a work of art on a purely aesthetic basis. Only issue is that fugly visor a la Geordi Laforge

UAE didn't make hit hard enough on the climbs if they wanted to win the stage - MVDP was wobbling on the Cote d'Otreau but they didn't finish him off
