Rog was literally last wheel in the peloton before Montmartre. You think, Fine, ok, he doesn’t care. Now he’s leading the peloton pushing hard to make it back. So good at so many things, so bad at positioning.

Meeus was caught behind with a puncture. He might have been waiting for him.

I know he did not want the climb in and Prudhomme actually did his job for once and required him to include the climb, but don't neuter the stage!

Based on how that first climb looked, I think Meeus is far less likely to win than Roglic or Lipowitz. Pogacar is going to smash that final climb. I don’t see how Meeus even contests it.

Don't you think the GC guys would be less likely to mix it up (excluding Pog who does whatever) if they had to worry about crashing and losing minutes? Or getting knocked out altogether
