to me this Tour is already soured up now. The green jersey seemed like it was going to be the most interesting part of the race. I, personally care nothing about the polka dot jersey...and the yellow jersey was already decided months ago. With Jasper out whoever wins the green will not be a bona fide winner. It was shaping up to be a great race for the green with Jasper in there and a whole other bunch of great sprinters...bu now...fck it. Color me defused, for lack of a better term.
Duly noted. See you next year!

Now the moment you've all been waiting for - whose to blame? Multiple yellow cards

COMMISSAIRES' JURY DECISION NO. 3
Crash in the last 5 kilometers:

All riders involved in the crash less than 5 km from the finish line will be credited with the winner's time.

Article 2.12.007-5.1: Irregular sprint (Intermediate sprint)
(163) COQUARD Bryan - COFIDIS - 10006895064
(88) THEUNS Edward - LIDL-TREK - 10007079970
Fine of 500 CHF - 13 points in the points classification for each rider.
Yellow card.

Article 2.12.007-5.1: Irregular sprint (final sprint)
(172) BALLERINI Davide - XDS ASTANA TEAM - 10008661777
Fine of 500 CHF - 13 points in the points classification
Yellow card.

(77) VAN POPPEL Danny - RED BULL BORA HANSGROHE - 10006914969
Fine of 500 CHF - 13 points in the points classification and relegation to 36th place
Yellow card.

Article 2.12.007-8.3: Rider carelessly disposing of waste
(125) MEZGEC Luka - TEAM JAYCO ALULA - 10005560710
Fine of 500 CHF - 25 points in the UCI ranking
Fine of 500 CHF - 25 points at points classification
Bit of a farce that the punishment is worse for throwing your waste away in the wrong place vs taking out another rider by riding carelessly

Remco down. What is even this 5km rule if the whole peloton keeps going.
It applies to crashes or mechanicals. Not gaps in time. so you still have to race. Which somehow is alleviated by the rule. In other words, you can lose time by racing, but you can't lose a whole race with a mechanical or crash.

Congrats to Tim Merlier but of course like everyone sad about Philipsen crashing out - and only an intermediate sprint.

That looked super painful, lost a lot of skin off his back and who knows what bruising. Hope he recovers okay.
Bruyneel was talking about the importance of the intermediate sprint in terms of points. He says the green jersey cannot be won at all mathematically at final sprints and now sprint trains and all of the nervousness becomes a factor at IS's.

Coquard regretful and emotional.

Isn't that podcast one long commercial for ketones and sports betting.

That's tough. I'm certain it wasn't intentional, but Tejay and Bookwalter said that he is known to have a lot of movement when he rides. Everything about this is unfortunate.

Unfortunate that Philipsen had to abandon. Hope Van der Poel starts going for intermediate sprints now because the green jersey can become a real possiblity.

Merlier just so fast, Milan had a perfect leadout and still got beaten. I still think he will get a win though.

Lastly, the argument about deserving a chance... I mean...Maybe I deserve a chance to ride the TdF? Why not? Nobody deserves anything a priori, therefore the argument you made is pretty bad.

Why should the sprinters, who work hard for it, not deserve their chance?

I don't think MVDP is going to put any effort in that until after stage 7 to see where he stands.

Actually insane that Vauquelin average under 130W for the final 40 minutes of the stage. The *** a big peloton into a head wind does.

Question:
Has ASO ever before just flat out refused to give anyone the combativity prize?

(Not like TTs)

Your eyes deceive you. He very aggressively moved to his right to a non-existent sprint line and hooked up with the rider he was trying to move off the line. That's a deviation and a relegatable offense in itself and his bike survival skills took out Jasper. That he got caught up in the finish sprint is not coincidence, either.
Talk me through his culpability for the crash near the end...
