That is not true. He was informed 24 days before the TDF when he was preparing to ride Tour De Suisse.
I only saw a Spanish article about it earlier on, and the "moto cross" part indeed was and incorrect translation, by the look of it.

Being at the Tour de France wasn't in his plans, he was surprised in June when he got the call. "There wasn't enough time to do any altitude camps or anything by the time I found out. So, I was just back home and we actually did motor pacing almost every single day leading up to here.

Time to find out if weightloss made Remco less aero (more bones sticking out). Imo Affini is finishing this one on the podium.
