Didn't even need an attack or a crash to shed well over half the peloton.

It seemed like there was some kind of incident earlier that stretched out the peloton, so that might have zapped energy from some riders before the climb.

Vollering looks to be a designated helper today.

Im gravel skeptical for road racing. Seem like too much random crash / puncture risk for too little viewer reward. Not sure yet tho.

Plus they have to breath that dust.

Surprised the entire peloton doesn’t get flats through this sector with such loose, jagged gravel

These front groups love nothing more than knocking off the pace after the gravel sections so it all comes back together. That's three for three.
