How on earth would Wiebes sprinting for 8th 'give up a stage win and a green jersey?' Keeping Vas in shooting range of a stage win I can understand, but Wiebes staying in a peloton where she haid no added value is nuts.
Also, if she herself points out that 'she saw something yellow lying on the tarmac'. That is not being very collegial to say the least.

Plus Van Vleueten attacked at a pee break to get that gap anyway, but SDWorx should have been more aware of the race situationLast year in the Vuelta Vollering lost 1min4sec in the crosswinds, partly due to her team's incompetence and failing to form a proper chase behind. She then lost the race overall by 9 seconds. They could have easily found those seconds had her team worked hard to limit her losses. I suspect they will have similar regrets again this year
I don't think that was a betrayal. That was standard SDW tactics of attacking rather than pulling for anyone else, and the two of them are/have been good friends.
But why would you attack the leader's jersey. This is the last stage with the final climb completed, so you cruise to the finish. Did you watch this stage?
And this race could be decided by 15 or 20 seconds in the end.
Both Jayco & Movistar, Jayco just by team selection alone, aren't at the same level as SDWorx or have the same goals in this race.
As soon as there was a crash involving the race leader, she's not just the team leader she was leading the thing they've come to win. SDworx should have told any rider on their team to stop and shepherd her across the line. Frankly they should have been doing that job for her anyway with 6km to go and a known sprint finish where things do often involve crashes.
But they didn't, claiming they didn't know Demi was in the crash, what did Lorena not tell them ? Or they werent looking at the tv with the race commentary going crazy about it.
No they were likely paralysed by choices, knowing it's the last sprint stage of the race and chance for Wiebes to win, knowing Vas was better placed and could still get a win, hoping Canyonsram wouldnt attack the yellow jersey...
They kind of made the no choice option or by the time they had decided it was too late which loses Demi time and likelihood of GC win assuming she can even continue, Wiebes didn't get the win anyway, and Vas well what's she supposed to think, yaay great oh well nevermind, **it happens
I'm only saying it made sense in the SDW world and it wasn't a betrayal. Had Reusser been caught, Vollering would have countered, but that didn't happen.
Nah, don't fire Wiebes, cos then somebody will just sign her. If you want to hit her where it really hurts, give her a fine.Someone needs to lose their job over today. It's truly a total disgrace. I don't know if that is Wiebes herself on a DS but this could cost Vollering the Tour and there needs to be accountability
She needs to get the Sam Bennett treatmentNah, don't fire Wiebes, cos then somebody will just sign her. If you want to hit her where it really hurts, give her a fine.
The other GC riders were never going to chase Reusser because they had nothing to gain, as they were not going to win the race.
Indeed there is another parallel with that situation as there was ethically questionable tactics from Canyon and Chloe Dygert's lead-out today tooPlus Van Vleueten attacked at a pee break to get that gap anyway, but SDWorx should have been more aware of the race situation
Your argument has gone from slightly strange to just pure online contrarianism. Have you seen the upcoming stages? The chance Zelensky becomes president of Russia is bigger than Wiebes winning the Green Jersey. Imagine Molano not waiting for Pogacar in this year's Giro while having absolute no chance winning the stage .Wiebes is only 16 points behind Vos now. All to play for.
There was 6k to go, not 26. There was a crash, a split that you have numbers in. You drill it. They may not have even known the yellow crashed, and simply thought they could gain a handful of seconds. 🙄Indeed there is another parallel with that situation as there was ethically questionable tactics from Canyon and Chloe Dygert's lead-out today too
You are massively over estimating Kool's climbing ability.Your argument has gone from slightly strange to just pure online contrarianism. Have you seen the upcoming stages? I thought you were supposed to do what you would have done anyway, and I highly doubt that Dygert would have ridden on the front that hard with Vollering in the pelotonWhat. You don't stop racing with 6kms. The questionable tactic from canyon was not having Paladin riding on the front as Dygert could have done well in that final.
