Maybe if she wins two more in a row the Italians be more ebullient? The Italian women have owned their race so it's not that big a thing.
Throw the French a bone. After all, the last Frenchman that got close was Fignon and lost by seconds...to an American! Marsal as the Frenchwoman in '90....I can see why they're excited.

Yes, it was a feeling that the French public hadn't felt in a long time, it was like Andy Murray winning at Wimbledon for the English. If you are shocked, wait for the next time that Brazil wins a World Cup. You'll see what overreacting really means. Men will become Gods.
The French needed it. After '19, the trauma, and the documentary that the entire country watched with sorrow, France needed this. I am so happy that it was Pauline who did it. One of the greatest cyclists that we have ever seen, man or woman. That's what we should be talking about. Her greatness.
Conspiracy theory: Pauline and Marion.
At the French Championships in '12, PFP won the ITT (Longo 7th) and Marion Rousse won the RR (Longo didn't bother sprinting for 3rd, freewheeled to 12th, last of the group). Age 53. I'm mentioning Jeannie, who just won (another) national title this year at age 66. Jeannie Longo desrved credit. Was it when the evil plan was designed?
Tom Brady: too good looking, too good at his craft, too much fame, too much money...I hated him...
I can go on and on, write a book...but I shouldn't have to convince anyone. PFP is a massive champion. Bravo Pauline!
