Cadel and his secret wingman: the punisher of rivals

Wow! That is quite a sight. BMC at the front with all nine riders intact.

Watching that montage of Cav victories on Eurosport it seems Harmonn greets every Cav sprint win with "hie is the fastest man in the world!!"

Yeah, I love that pic. Says so much.

[Granville, I think you need to grab the current image link to my avatar. I changed it and then changed it back.]

looking at the profile on CN's text commentary, they have a LBL style stage today, but with a Cat 1 climb to get them started.

Too bad Paris doesn't sit atop a steep climb. Perhaps they could build a ramp up the Eiffel Tower and end the race there? :D

Maybe not useless, but kinda boring. The sprint, however, makes up for it.

I just love the cheering and the podium , that's what it's all about for me. Further more, we'll just see Cavendish booming in.

Re: the parade.

I don't think I could handle much more tension! Now I can sit back, enjoy my breakfast and watch the tributes. :)

Not able to watch the stage, so I'll say Congrats once again to Evans, and all the Aussies on here!

As for the stage, I'm sticking by the pick I made at the beginning of the Tour:

Where is the exact point on the Champs Elysses where they join the laps? Once they're all through, do they move the barriers across as there never looks like open road where they've entered onto it.

They've shortened the distance into Paris this year, but it's still 30km too long.

What's interesting to me is the way Contador came to Cadel's aide on Stage 19, as others have written. Before the stage I was chewing over the problem of how to handle to Schleck tag team in the thread, and the Saxo Bank angle did occur to me:

I'm thinking if I were Ochowicsz, or Cadell's DS, I'd be on the phone with Riis. If Evan's can enlist the support of Saxo Bank, that would be - *could* be - huge. Why would they help? As someone mentioned above: for revenge. Plus whatever else they might want.
But when aid from Saxo Bank actually arrived, in the form of Contador's long flyer from 16 Km into the stage, I was caught completely unawares, as in, "What the . . . .!" It was not the style of help I envisioned - too unusual - but in the end it did the job of driving a stake (not "steak" :D) into the heart of the Schleck form, proving to be the most effective help Cadel could have been offered.

The question remains, was it pre-arranged with Riis, something Riis offered spontaneously, or an unplanned gift from Contador?

I don't think you could call it collaboration. If LT had played it smart ... And sent frank after AC ... Cadel would have had to chase and Andy would have had a free ride

Alberto just wanted to win
