Groenewegen renaissance continues. Beat Klooj in the Dutch Nationals, and Phillipsen here. Really didn't seem likely he'd be doing that after the last couple of seasons?
He has never been finished by any means, sometimes it is greatly exaggerated when a sprinter has a bad streak but he has only had a slight decline (and worse team), he won in the 2022 Tour (7 victories that season) and last year he achieved 6 (and many podiums) but he could only be second in the Tour, he sacrificed power to climb better and arrive fresher at the finals, but this year they have admitted that mistake and he has returned to a more classic preparation to have his usual max power.

Pedersen got the compativity prize.
He would have preferred to just get to the bus and have his bandages changed...

She is aware he's not getting a lion?
Also, what lions? I thought you only got those for having yellow...
Actually he tried to do the sprint but his lead-out, Gibbons, lost the wheel of Stuyven again today and they were far behind in the last corner.

If you saw Groenewegen in Hungary you would be surprised. I posted at the time that on one occasion he could not hold the wheel of his lead out and the other time he could not come off the wheel of Cavendish. Then in Veendall which is his race he could not beat two pro conti sprinters. He turned it around with a good win in Slovenia and he was dominant in the Dutch Championship over Kooij. It was a good win today because he took a bit of wind in the final because he was never going to the barriers.

And the team would not allow him to ride the Dauphine.

Wow. I guess the commissars are taking a stand.

Somebody's been paying attention.

Only 5 seconds behind Tadej to the top of the Galibier. Jonas has power. And of course the ITT is both power and skill. Jonas showed he has both. Should be a good show.
He lost 25s to Pogacar after he technical section, and had Evenepoel/Roglic not caught back on, he would have lost even more than that.

The problem is not Philipsen. The problem is commissars aren't consistent in handing out DSQ's so every single one could be argued since there are precedents where it didn't happen.

Yes, the problem is Philipsen.

To elaborate a bit on the other point: Cycling is such a chaotic sport that it is a complete utopia to always have consistent rulings to the satisfaction of everyone.
